Up for your consideration is this Western Electric 5302 Desk Set Telephone. To collectors who collect WE/Bell Systems phones would know the company didn't waste anything. To make use of their stock of 302 desk sets, when the 500 models were introduced the WE co designed a smaller phone that would fit over the base of the obsolete 302's. These phones were transitional phones and were soon gone from service when the large 500's made their appearance . Hence the 5302 are not often seen. This phone was painted at one point because originally these phones had the letter/numbers on the outside of the dial, not the inside like this one. Please see the photos. Other than that It is in good condition for its age. The body is black plastic/bakelite? I was informed the handset and dial are not original to the phone, that they are Automatic Electric parts. Also I was told it was normal to interchange parts back in the day. I'm just going by what I have been told. It weighs approximately 5 pounds. This phone is part of my father in laws extensive collection.
