If you've ever driven near those cross-country high voltage power lines while listening to your AM radio, you probably have noticed that even those Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) "60 Hz" transmission lines produce enormous amounts of interference.
To be clear, this is a
passive
filter. If there is no EMI / RFI present, it will not have any effect on the performance of your metal detector. Compare it to a water filter than will not have any effect on pure water flowing through it. Only when dirty water is present does it's filtering make a difference.
You don't even have to disconnect the
cable to install the Detector Protector.
All you have to do is wrap it around
the search coil cable at the control
box and snap the latch to lock it.
Here's an inexpensive but effective way to reduce or block EMI & RFI and random noise from manmade and natural sources such as broadcast and mobile transmitters, power lines, invisible dog fences and even distant lightning. You've experienced the devastation it does to Radio and TV reception even to local stations with strong signals.
This filter only attenuates the harmful external interference picked up by the search coil and cable. It has no effect on the internal electronic signals operating within your metal detector's control box and wiring.
Waterproof and safe for use at the beach or streams. Water, even full immersion, will not damage it or reduce effectiveness.
Ever notice those odd cylindrical "lumps" at the ends of electronic power and interface cables? Manufacturers routinely use this same technology to control EMI / RFI in computers, printers and other sensitive electronic equipment. INSTALLATION
Installation is
quick-n-easy
. It literally takes just seconds.
For best results, recommended placement on the search coil cable should be close to the metal detector control box.
Use a small flat blade screwdriver to pop up and open the latch. Next, simply clamp it around and squeeze to snap it closed on any cable up to 5/16" (8 mm) OD. A loose fit on smaller cables does not reduce effectiveness, but you may want to wrap the cable with a few layers of tape for a snug fit. You can route a small cable tie (included) through the plastic housing frame to secure it to the pole if desired.
And it's REUSABLE. Removal for transfer is just as easy when you upgrade to a new detector.
