Important Washing Instructions From Snowflake:
While our metallic or special fabrics such as hologram and mystique are very eye-catching, these fabrics will dull with wear and repeated washing. Areas such as under the arms, the seat and the abdomen, or those areas that incur abrasion, may show some loss of foil or special effects. Please wash accordingly to the instructions on the garment's tag. With proper care, your leotard will look great for a long time!
Use the following washing instructions for metallic, special fabrics such as hologram and mystique or leotards adorned with rhinestones:
First, fill your sink or large bowl with cold water.
Then add a ¼ cup of table salt to the cold water and stir it in.
Put your leotard into the cold water and salt mixture, kneading it gently to wash it. Pay extra attention to the leotard’s contact points, like the armpits or crotch. Do not rub the fabric together while washing or leave the leotard to soak. Leotards with mystique fabric or sparkles will lose their sparkle and shine when the fabric is rubbed together, and soaking a leotard will cause the colors to bleed.
After washing your leotard in the cold salt water, drain the sink or bowl and fill it with fresh cold water. Rinse the leotard well in the fresh water. Again, do not rub the fabric of the leotard together or leave the leotard to soak in the water.
Immediately take the leotard out of the sink or bowl after rinsing it and roll it up in a towel to get rid of excess water. Then, hang it up to dry on a plastic hanger.
A few more things: When washing your leotard, do not use soaps, detergents, bleach, oxygenated cleaners, or any other cleaning products. Salt water is enough to deodorize and sanitize, and is gentle on the fabric and helps set the colors. When you finish washing and rinsing your leotard, do not put it in the dryer. Hang it to air-dry instead on a plastic hanger, not metal.
