    A SET OF TWO MAKKUM OCTAGONAL
    PLATES MADE WITH THE TIN GLAZED,
    (MAJOLICA TECHNIQUE) ~
    OUR INFORMATION FROM THE
    TICHELAAR MUSCEUM IS THAT THESE
    PLATES WERE MADE LIKELY BETWEEN
    1950-1980, WITH NO EXACT YEAR ~
    THE PAINTER IS JETZE KUIPER
    AND HE WORKED DURING THE ABOVE
    YEARS ~
    SINCE THERE IS NO MORE PRODUCTION
    OF THESE PARTICULAR PLATES, THEY
    STILL USE THE OLD NUMBER OF 973 ~
    THE LETTER "K." AT THE RIGHT OF THE
    COMPANY SHIELD STANDS FOR THE
    PAINTER'S NAME, KUIPER ~
    PLATES FEATURE A MALE SOLDIER,
    AND A LADY WITH A BUCKET OF FISH &
    A CAT LOOKING ON FROM BEHIND ~
    @ 9.5"X 9.5",
    @ 1.5" HEIGHT ~
    THIS IS POLYCHROME ART POTTERY
    OR TIN GLAZED MAJOLICA,
    IN BLUE, RUST, YELLOW, GREEN ON
    WHITE WITH THE RIM BEING THE
    TRADITIONAL GLAZE OF OCHRE
    BROWN GLAZE ~
    THESE ARE LOVELY DESIGNER
    PIECES AS THEY HAVE MORE DEPTH
    THAN A FLAT PLATE ~
    THE PLATES ARE RIBBED AND
    FLARED FROM THE VERGE ON TOP
    AS WELL AS ON THE BACK SIDE ~
    HAND PAINTED IN SOFT PASTE COLORS ~
    THE SOFT PASTE GIVES A SOFTNESS
    TO THE COLORING WHICH IS SPECIAL ~
    THESE WERE MADE BY THE TICHELAAR
    FAMILY MANUFACTURER AND THEY
    STARTED AS TILE MAKERS ~
