Description
On offer is thisantique, very bold beautiful & impressive
"Societe Ceramique, MAESTRICHT, Made in
Holland
"
I have researched the markings underneath and found that it dates to about 1887. Over
130 years
old
!!
As you can see the floral depiction is
crimson
,
various shades of green
and
black
and
white
with some
gold trim
on the handle and on the wavy edge of the top of the pitcher. The flowers look like poppies to me. Quite striking!! The pitcher stands about 10" tall and the base diameter is approx 6 3/4" and the piece weighs 2 lbs 13 oz. Looks
very impressive
when on display (see pics 1,10, 11 & 12) For an approximate "visual" of size, see pic 3 for comparison alongside of
a regular can of Coke
.
Company history
:
Guilaume Lambert & Co. founded the "Societe Ceramique" in Maestricht, HOLLAND in 1863. The mark on this piece dates to c 1887. (see pics 6 & 7)
Professional valuation
:
This pitcher was valued 15 years ago at between 5-225. It is estimated to have gone up since then, so asking price is well within current value.
Condition
