Description
This is a1961 100% Cream White Western Electric 554 Rotary Wall Phone, Repaired, Clean, Working Well.
I gave it some new wiring and a cosmetic makeover.
All electronics are tested, tuned, and working well. The phone can dial in and out, rings, and the receiver and transmitter sound great.
New old stock plastic housing. New finger wheel and dial card. New old stock dial. Custom number plate bezel with white-on-white numbers.
The line cord terminates with a standard / modern modular jack.
The coiled handset cord was cleaned, untangled and recoiled.
Base and handset cradle were refinished in cream white.
Plastic parts were cleaned. There are still some faint scratches and imperfections.
I do conventional restoration whenever possible. Some used rotary phones are badly rusted, scratched, damaged from dialing with a ball point pen, etc. So I end up with some leftover parts that resist normal cosmetic restoration. I find other ways to bring them back to life, and I combine them with restored or new old stock shiny parts to make the more "creative" phones.

Here's what you need to use a rotary phone...
If you don't have a POTS line (Plain Old Telephone Service), and most people don't these days, you can still use a rotary phone, with a little help from a device or two.
Option 1. First, ask your landline phone carrier if they support pulse dial and test it yourself. If you're lucky, you can just plug in and you're off.
Option 2. You can purchase an adapter, typically pulse to tone. They'll set you back maybe .
Option 3. You can use xlink bttn, which supports pulse dial phones, and also syncs with your smart phone, so you can use your cell phone via your rotary phone. How cool is that? I have one and really like it. That's about 0.
Option 4. You can use xlink bt, which is the same as bttn, except that it doesn't support landlines, so in other words, with xlink bt, you don't even need a landline. You can sync your call phone to your rotary phone with bluetooth. That's about .
One advantage to the bluetooth is that you can unpair when you don't want the bells to ring.
I deliver fully operational rotary phones, so please, before buying from me, confirm that you can use a pulse-dial rotary phone or make sure that you have an appropriate adapter.
Please note: I want 100% buyer satisfaction. If something doesn't meet your expectations, please just get in touch!
